ITALIAN TRAVEL ADVISORY:
SHALL I VISIT VICENZA?

The coronavirus fever outburst in February 2020.

And we should have known since the beginning, as in mid-December the first news about the infection started to leak out from Wuhan, in China. We are experiencing globalization after all, where merchandises and people are constantly moving and diseases do travel accordingly. So, infection spread to the rest of Asia and has now reached Europe.

THE SITUATION IN ITALY

First, we must say the reaction of Italy has been timely. The Italian healthcare system, which is free and public, is often taken as an example for its best practices, and the expertise of the medical personnel has reached a worldwide recognition.

As we all know, prevention and verified information are the key to avoid infection.

What are then the symptoms of the new coronavirus? In 95% of the cases, high temperature and cough, and in 5% pneumonia and severe respiratory distress.

However we must point out what doctors have been claiming so far: the majority overcomes the disease with no need of any special healing.

I live only 18 miles away from the village of Vo’ Euganeo, near Padua, where the virus has been first detected. I wish to reassure those who follow us from abroad and are subject to alarming news from the media.

Here in Vicenza, we are experiencing quarantine. As a precaution, museums, bars and stores not selling essential items shall be closed for a few days more. We strinctly follow the indications of authorities and do not move if not necessary. Anyway, sick people are also starting to recover and go back home from hospital.

So, the answer to your question is that we are confident you can soon visit Vicenza and the Veneto region.
